Black Image Center is partnering with Burntsienna Research Society again to bring back our three-part research series around artbooks-as-reference material, for photographers considering publishing an artbook of their own. A group of photographers will be invited to meet on Monday evenings once monthly across February, March and April to explore photography artbooks as reference and inspiration for layout, tone & approach, and collectively discuss the importance of archiving our own works into something what world can hold and keep beyond us. This program will be facilitated by Jason E.C. Wright of Burntsienna Research Society.
Primary reference books will be presented courtesy of Burntsienna Research Library and Black Image Center Library selections. Participants are invited to bring up to three (3) reference books of their own to share each week as well — with the opportunity to leave the experience with a robust roster of reference points, and a warmer community of resources and accountability to make it real.
Jason E.C. Wright is an educator, photographer, design researcher and Director at Burntsienna Research Society - a Private Artbook Library & Institute for Slow Design Research. A twenty year veteran of the fashion industry, Wright has instructed at FIDM, lectured and moderated for AIGA, LA Design Festival, MOCA, SOCAL NOMA & more, and consults on design research projects in the fashion, retail, design and artbook industries.
